Guénaël Fassier is the founder and director of the Agama Gallery. After a multidisciplinary academic path (a Master’s degree in Art History from the University of Toulouse 2, a Master 2 and three years of doctoral research in social anthropology and ethnology at the EHESS in Paris), he founded the Agama Gallery in 2011 in Toulouse, in the heart of the historic Carmes district. He specializes in ancient African art, particularly Yoruba art (Nigeria, Benin). He selects, exhibits, and sells antique artworks from across the African continent, based on his discoveries. He regularly organizes thematic exhibitions in tribal art as well as contemporary art, with the aim of highlighting the creative practices of both living African artists and European artists. He also advises clients on acquisitions and sales, in France and internationally. He has worked for many years with international galleries and dealers. These regular contacts with specialists from other African regions, as well as experienced collectors, allow him to ensure the authenticity of the works offered for sale. Through this website, he offers a curated selection of artworks, either newly discovered or from private collections, chosen for their aesthetic quality, diversity, and authenticity. He also presents original works by contemporary artists exhibited in the gallery. He applies the same level of professionalism to online sales as in his work as a gallery owner and dealer.
